What people are saying about YC Hertfordshire NCS
Feedback from young people who have taken part in NCS
Here's what some of the young people who took part in NCS in Summer 2016 had to say:
Ellie (17), said:“This has been the best week of my life; everyone has got on so well and the youth workers have been so supportive.”
Kailee (16) said: “I am more assured of my skills and it has built my confidence and helped me talk to new people.”
Toby (17) said: “I have developed as a person and gained a better understanding of what I want to do."
Ella (16) said: “This has been a brilliant experience. I’ve made loads of friends and really developed my confidence.”
Charles (16): “I have had so much fun and have made many new friends. I have also learned many new things.”
Rhiannon joined the Three Rivers Team in summer 2015. She says:
“What I enjoyed most about NCS is so hard to even begin to explain. Every moment was amazing and fun filled. I can’t even explain how much fun I had! What I can say is that one of the most important and the most enjoyable things that happened was meeting new people. Creating those amazing bonds that still exist today. I can honestly say that there wasn't even one thing I didn't enjoy. Every moment was breath-taking! Leaving NCS was the least enjoyable part. It was heart breaking!”
Georgina also took part in summer 2015 and has not looked back. She has been chosen as one of a hundred NCS graduates from 80,000 national applicants to become an NCS leader. She says:
“I took part in NCS because I had just been doing my GCSEs and I was extremely stressed and slightly bored with how things were in life. I saw this programme and thought 'wow this looks really fun, I've never had the chance to do that before' and so I was hooked. Everything about the programme looked exciting and considering I had such a long summer holiday, I thought I'd try something different. The social action part also appealed to me as I liked the idea of helping the community in such a unique way that meant it was both enjoyable and helpful.”
Allexandra took part in Autumn 2014 in Borehamwood. She feels the experience changed her and that she made friends for life. She says:
"NCS (The National Citizen Service) is one of the opportunities many people choose to take; every autumn, spring and summer, people from different organisations are promoting this program to young people aged between 15 and 17. For me, it happened the same; one day, I was stopped on the street and I was introduced to the program by one of the YC Hertfordshire youth workers I know. She talked to me with so much enthusiasm and joy, so I decided to go for it. Initially, I was planning to take part in the summer program like a lot of my friends did; but I postponed the program and I took part in the autumn.
