Year 8 students are challenged to think about how they will navigate their futures
02 March 2020
Year 8 students at Goffs Academy recently took part in some of the YC Hertfordshire Services for Young People 'Navigate Your Future' workshops where they explored careers, the diversity of the jobs market, skill sets needed for the future job sector and what steps they need to take in the next few years to identify the career path they want to pursue.
These sessions helped inform the students of the range of opportunities available to them. The students reported that they now feel motivated to take further steps themselves to explore and refine their future aspirations, feedback included:
“I enjoyed learning about the different jobs and the qualifications which are needed.”
“I enjoyed working in groups and learning about jobs I’ve never heard about before.”
“It was interesting learning about the skills needed for the job I want to do.”
“I learnt that some jobs may not be around in the future.”
“I know I need to do well in school to get where I want.”
“After today I am interested in a job connected with law.”
Thank you to the school for their support and feedback:
“The students thoroughly enjoyed working together in teams on the Navigate tasks and talking about their futures.”
